The End of Winter at La Barrière Les Neiges, Courchevel

As the final days of winter settle over Courchevel, I find myself reflecting on an incredible season spent in one of the most luxurious destinations in the French Alps. Working at La Barrière Les Neiges has been nothing short of extraordinary, from the unforgettable experiences on the slopes of the Three Valleys to the cherished moments with an amazing team.

Exploring Beyond Courchevel

Winter in the mountains isn’t just about skiing—it's also about discovering the surrounding gems. A day trip to Annecy, often called the "Venise of the Alps," was a highlight. Walking along the canals, breathing in the crisp air, and indulging in a warm tartiflette made for a perfect escape from the snow-covered peaks. Another journey took me to Conflans, a medieval village seemingly untouched by time. Wandering through its narrow streets, with stone houses and ancient archways, felt like stepping into a history book.

Skiing the World’s Largest Ski Area

Courchevel is part of the legendary Three Valleys, the largest ski domain in the world, boasting an astonishing 600km of slopes. Despite spending the entire season here, I still haven’t explored them all—there’s always another hidden run to carve, another breathtaking viewpoint to discover. From wide-open powder fields to technical black runs, every day on the mountain brought a new adventure.

Luxury, Teamwork, and Unforgettable Moments

Working in a group that represents the height of French luxury has been an enriching experience. At the reception of La Barrière Les Neiges, I was lucky to be part of an exceptional team—one that made every day enjoyable, even in the busiest moments. The camaraderie, the shared laughter, and the satisfaction of delivering impeccable service to our guests created a workplace that felt like home.

Unique Winter Adventures

Beyond the slopes, this season was filled with thrilling experiences. One of the most memorable was dog sledding with a colleague—rushing through snowy trails, feeling the power of the huskies, and embracing the wild beauty of the mountains. Another highlight was witnessing and participating in ski slalom championships, a heart-racing event that showcased skill, speed, and precision.

Capturing Love in the Snow

As a photographer, I also had the chance to blend my passion for storytelling with the winter landscape, organizing elopement-styled photoshoots on the slopes. There’s something magical about capturing love amidst towering peaks, with the snowflakes adding a touch of natural romance. These sessions were a reminder that the mountains are not just a playground for skiers but also a breathtaking backdrop for unforgettable memories.

A Season to Remember

As I bid farewell to winter in Courchevel, I do so with a heart full of gratitude. The adventures, the friendships, and the experiences have made this season truly special. Though the snow will melt and the slopes will rest, the memories will last forever—until the next winter calls me back to the mountains once again.

But for now, a new adventure awaits. This summer, I’ll be heading to Canada to work at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs. Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, it promises a whole new chapter of exploration, breathtaking landscapes, and exciting professional opportunities. Beyond my role at the hotel, I am eager to embark on fresh photography projects, capturing the wild beauty of Canada and weaving new stories through my lens. From mountain trails to turquoise lakes, this next journey is one I cannot wait to share.

Stay tuned—there’s so much more to come!
